Block Printing & Linocut
Carve, Ink & Print with Presence
About this course
Block printing is one of the most satisfying crafts: you carve an image by removing material, ink the surface, and press it to paper or fabric to create a print. This course teaches linocut — the most accessible form of relief printing — from first marks to edition printing. The carving process is meditative and forgiving. The printing process is immediate and joyful. Together, they create a practice that rewards patience and attention.

Reading the Block: Positive & Negative
20 minIn relief printing, what you carve away becomes white. What remains becomes ink. Training your eye to see the block in reverse is the essential skill of the printmaker.
Holding the Gouge: Safe & Confident Carving
25 minThe carving gouge should move away from your body, with your non-dominant hand behind the tool at all times. This safety rule is also a presence practice: it forces you to slow down and commit to each stroke.

What students are saying
“This completely changed how I approach my creative practice. I didn't expect to cry during a watercolor lesson — but here we are.”
“I've bought a dozen online courses. This is the only one I've actually finished. The mindfulness integration makes it feel intentional, not just consumable.”
“Worth every penny and more. I go back to certain lessons the same way I return to favourite books. There's always something new.”
