Fiber Arts & Presence

Weaving with Awareness

Duration 3 weeks
Lessons 10
Instructor MakerMuse Studio

About this course

Fiber arts are inherently meditative โ€” the repetitive motion of weaving, knitting, or knotting naturally calms the nervous system. This course makes that connection intentional. Learn weaving, macrame, and textile techniques while building a mindfulness practice that transforms repetitive motion into deep creative presence. Your hands already know how to meditate. This course teaches them.

1

Thread & Breath

20 min

Wind yarn into a ball by hand โ€” the oldest fiber arts warm-up. Match your winding to your breathing and notice when your rhythm changes.

Wind for 5 minutes without music or distraction. Just you, yarn, and your breath.
2

The Warp as Foundation

30 min

Set up a simple frame loom warp. The warp is invisible in the finished piece, but it holds everything together โ€” like the daily habits that support your creative life.

As you wind each warp thread, name one thing that supports your creative practice.
3

Plain Weave: The Heartbeat

25 min

Over, under, over, under. Plain weave is the heartbeat of textile arts โ€” simple, rhythmic, and endlessly versatile.

Weave without counting. Trust your hands to find the rhythm. When your mind wanders, gently return to the feeling of thread between your fingers.
