Water & Breath: Your First Wash

Begin with the simplest watercolor exercise — a flat wash — while practicing box breathing. Feel the parallel between controlling your breath and controlling water flow on paper.

Box breathing: 4 counts in, 4 hold, 4 out, 4 hold. Repeat through your first wash.

Letting Pigment Bloom

30 min

Wet-on-wet technique teaches the ultimate creative lesson: sometimes the best thing you can do is put down your brush and watch.

Practice non-interference. After applying pigment, set a 2-minute timer. Just watch.

The Imperfect Line

20 min

Draw continuous contour lines with watercolor. Embrace wobbles, drips, and happy accidents as part of your unique creative voice.

Before each line, set an intention: "This line is enough exactly as it is."
