Mindful Woodworking
The Meditative Maker's Workshop
About this course
Wood has grain, weight, and memory. Working with it slowly — hand tools over power tools, observation over output — is one of the most grounding creative practices available to us. This course teaches woodworking as a meditative discipline: from selecting your wood and reading its grain, to hand-planing, joinery, and finishing pieces with care and intention. You will learn to build small projects you will use every day, and in doing so, build a creative practice that nourishes you for life.

Reading Wood: The Language of Grain
30 minBefore you cut a single piece of wood, you must learn to read it. Grain direction, figure, moisture content, and character marks tell the story of a tree's life — and guide every decision you'll make.
The Hand Plane: Slow & Intentional
35 minThe hand plane is the most meditative tool in the workshop. Each stroke removes a ribbon of wood and reveals a surface impossible to achieve with sandpaper. Learn to set, sharpen, and use a bench plane with presence.

What students are saying
“This completely changed how I approach my creative practice. I didn't expect to cry during a watercolor lesson — but here we are.”
“I've bought a dozen online courses. This is the only one I've actually finished. The mindfulness integration makes it feel intentional, not just consumable.”
“Worth every penny and more. I go back to certain lessons the same way I return to favourite books. There's always something new.”
